On Friday, June 17, 2022, the Student Association of Islamic Banking Study Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held an Upgrading Committee for IB Fest 6.0 with the theme “Spirit, Togetherness, Progressive towards IB Fest 6.0 FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga.” The event was held offline at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Mr. Solekhan, S.E., an alumnus of the Islamic Banking study program of the 2016 batch and former chairman of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business in 2019, was the keynote speaker. The event was attended by Ms. Ruspita Rani Pertiwi, S.Psi, M.M., the head of the study program, Mr. Jauhar Faradis S.H.I., M.A., the vice head of the study program, and Mr. Fajar Sodik, the chairman of HMPS PS 2022.

Upgrading is a training activity designed to enhance students’ quality, knowledge, and organizational skills. This event is part of the Human Resources Development Division (PSDM) programs, aiming to foster an understanding of the importance of teamwork. The participants in this upgrading activity were students of Islamic Banking who are members of HMPS PS and also part of the IB Fest committee.

The event commenced with an opening speech by the master of ceremonies, Ms. Azizah. The first agenda featured a speech by Mr. Fajar Sodiq, the Chairman of HMPS Islamic Banking, followed by a presentation on “How to build good teamwork” by Mr. Solekhan, S.E. He commenced by addressing common challenges faced by committees, which often impede the smooth progress of their work. Mr. Solekhan highlighted that the most prevalent challenge in committee work is miscommunication among members, which can lead to mistakes. To address this, he recommended that the committee conduct briefings before commencing activities and hold meetings to ensure clear communication and appropriate delegation of responsibilities. Additionally, Mr. Solekhan provided insights on how committees can identify sponsorship opportunities, emphasizing that the committee’s large membership presents significant sponsorship potential, and thus they should seek sponsorships that target a large audience. He stressed that fostering a sense of ownership for the event being organized is crucial for building good teamwork within the committee.

Subsequently, a meeting took place between HMPS-PS and the IB Fest committee, attended by Ms. Ruspita Rani Pertiwi, S.Psi., M.M., the head of the study program, and Mr. Jauhar Faradis S.H.I., M.A., the program secretary. This coordination aimed to build a relationship between the study program and the IB Fest committee, as the IB Fest is expected to coincide with the national curriculum synchronization and stakeholder gathering, both of which are part of the study program’s events. Therefore, it was essential to coordinate between the study program and the committee to discuss the event’s overview. Ms. Ruspita further announced that the program had decided to designate Dr. Jeihan Ali Azhar, S.Si., M.E.I., as the committee coordinator from the program. This move aimed to streamline future coordination for the IB Fest event through Dr. Jeihan.

The event concluded with a sharing of experiences led by Mr. Fajar Sodik. During this session, Mr. Fajar motivated the participants to contemplate strategies for overcoming potential challenges and encouraged them to brainstorm solutions. Each division was also given the chance to offer suggestions for the implementation of IB Fest. The participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and engagement throughout the event. It is anticipated that the IB Fest committee members gained valuable insights into fostering effective teamwork within the committee and acquiring the skills to tackle challenges as they arise.
