The Islamic Banking webinar, held on November 16, 2020, centered around the theme “Opportunities, Challenges, and Strategies of Islamic Bank and Finance to Support the Halal Industry.” It attracted hundreds of participants from diverse regions across Indonesia. The target audience for this national webinar encompassed not only students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta but also students nationwide, facilitated through the Zoom meeting platform in response to the ongoing pandemic.

The webinar featured exceptional speakers, comparable to those in the IB Festival webinar. The event commenced with a recitation of the Quran, the rendition of the national anthem, and the Hymn of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Subsequently, Mrs. Ruspita Rani Pertiwi, S.Psi M.M., the Head of the Islamic Banking Study Program, delivered a speech, followed by a speech from Dr. Afdawaiza, S.Ag., M.Ag., the Dean of FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The webinar also welcomed a special guest, Dr. Phil. Sahiron Syamsuddin, MA, representing the Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

The event was moderated by Alex Fahrur Riza, SE., M.Sc., a lecturer at FEBI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The presentations were delivered by three distinguished speakers. The first speaker, Mr. Abdullah Firman Wibowo (President Director of BNI Syariah), presented on the sub-theme: “Strategies of Islamic Banks to support the halal industry and related issues.” The second speaker, Rifki Ismal, Ph.D. (Economic Research Specialist at Bank Indonesia), presented on the sub-theme: “The central bank, regulator perspective, opportunities, and challenges of the halal industry in Indonesia.” Lastly, Salman Subakat, S.T. (CEO of PT Paragon Technology and Innovation), shared insights on the sub-theme: “Producers’ perspective in capturing halal industry development and its opportunities and challenges.”

The event concluded with the announcement of the 10 Doorprize winners selected from the questioners, with the Doorprizes generously provided by BNI Syariah.
